status quo on every level of government until we take control of our government
again by showing up to vote. Your vote DOES COUNT, it is very powerful and
will send a message to Washington that we are informed and we do know and
understand what is happening.
When is the last time you read the Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen
United States of America, more commonly known as the Declaration of
Independence? Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. This profound
statement stirs within me a feeling of patriotism and pride. Thank you to all
patriots past, present and future, our active military and our veterans. Thank
you for your service and your willingness to fight and die for our freedoms.
Our military may be strong but nothing is stronger than our vote. Stop making
excuses.
Get off your derrieres and vote! We have elections coming up in March –
what will your excuse be this time? The day may come when you will not be
able to express your feelings in public or in private meeting places. What will
you tell your grandchildren when they ask – did you vote?
Recently our family suffered the loss of a patriot; a future Air Force officer
and pilot. Jack Lindsey, a bright 18-year-old, was one of those kids who always
did things right. As a small child he would get his mom to park at the end of
a runway off the shoulder of the road and watch the jets take off and land,
practicing touch and goes and laughing at the sound of the after burners. He
would wave to the pilots and say “that will be me one day!” Jack was a great
student and a best friend to his mom, dad and younger brother Dan. He
worked two jobs to earn money to pay for his flying lessons and he learned
to fly. He received his pilot’s license about the same time he received his
driver’s license. He did this while playing football and baseball and being a
member of the Honor Society. In his senior year of high school he received the
appointment from Louisiana to the Air Force Academy. His dream had come
true! As a freshman at the Academy, he had become a leader. Tragically, a
weekend ski trip with the other Air Force cadets cost Jack his life. His loss will
be felt by so many and forever. Jack was destined to be a leader and to make
changes. He was a true patriot who loved his God first, family and country.
