January 2022 • Florida Pool Prosm 9 LEGISLATIVE UPDATE The 2022 F l or i da Leg i s l a t i ve Sess i on wi l l open January 11, 2022 and run for 60 days through March 11. This Session is shaping up to be a potentially successful legislative session for the Florida Swimming Pool Association. One of FSPA’s priority bills, which would exempt swimming pool subcontractors from state and local licensing requirements, cleared its first committees in both the Florida House of Representatives and Florida State Senate before the official opening of the 2022 session, boding very well for the bills ultimate success. In addition to working to pass positive bills for the Florida swimming pool and spa industry in 2022, FSPA will be keeping watch for potentially destructive bills seeking to over regulate the swimming pool industry and construction industry as a whole.
