The holidays are just around the corner and 2014 is
almost over. With Thanksgiving fast approaching, it is
a great time to be with family and friends and to reflect
on the things we are most thankful for.
We, asAmericans, are lovers of freedomand in today’s
hustle and bustle we may tend to take these freedoms
for granted. It’s not just our military that ensures and
fights for these freedoms but citizens at home who stay
informed with local, state and national government affairs. Your voice and your
vote do matter. E-mails and phone calls to your government representatives
can make a difference. Please let your voice by heard by voting and encourage
your friends and family to do the same. We must never give up and our freedom
does come with a price. That price can be as little as staying informed and
involved. Get involved! Donate your time to your local and state representatives –
become a sign holder or a walker or make phone calls! I know you can make
a difference and the rewards may just help preserve our freedom. Your local
Chapters will be electing their upcoming Board and Officers for the new year.
This is a great time to get involved and find out more about your industry.
We have learned as an association how much of a difference we can make
by being organized and informed - being proactive and not reactive. Many
volunteer hours have been spent over the last decade and many more are
needed in the future. Encourage others to join us because there is strength
in numbers and our voice becomes stronger and louder. As mentioned last
month, the scope of work for the swimming pool contractor license is being
chopped away every day. When other trades set out to invade our scope of
work, it is our job to alert all licensed pool contractors in Florida that we need
their help. Don’t give your industry away.
