Pool & Spa Energy Code and Information

Florida Building Commission adopts glitch amendments to 2010 code

by Jennifer Hatfield, FSPA Government Relations Consultant
Ffinal changes clarified that controls capable of operating at two or more speeds must only be installed for use with a pump motor capable of operating at two or more speeds.  The changes also eliminated the reference to Florida Standards 1 & 2, replacing them with references within the code to the APSP 14 (portable spas) and APSP 15 (residential pools and inground spas), the energy efficient standards a contractor must also abide by when addressing the energy efficient requirements found in the code.

All glitch amendments that were adopted will now be integrated into the 2010 Florida Building Code.  The 2010 code will take effect March 15, 2012.
