The Chapter meeting on March 12 was held at Commercial Energy Specialist. Thank you, Alvaro Mendoza, for the wonderful presentation on what is emerging in technology in the pool industry. He covered commercial as well as residential equipment and how to accurately calculate the energy usage. Thank you for giving of your time and for sponsoring the meeting.
By the time you receive the April issue of the Florida Pool Prosm details of the meeting program on April 9 will be finalized and e-mailed out. Two exciting events are scheduled for May. The first is a Saturday Family Fun Day on May 11 at Jupiter Beach Park. We have rented the picnic pavilion for a fun day of BBQ, cornhole, swimming, building sand castles and anything else you can imagine at this fun park. Bring your employees, family and friends. The Chapter will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs and will have water. We ask each family to bring your own refreshments and a dish to pass. Those of you feeling lucky may want to play in the Cornhole Tournament for a registration fee of $45 per team. Standard cornhole game rules will apply. And yes, we will have team prizes compliments of our many Cornhole Tournament sponsors. Register early to be sure you will get on the game board. Register at www.fspa-pb.com. The Chapter meeting on May 14 will be presented by Jack Zurich, senior trainer at Zodiac Academy. This is a two hour class offering continuing education credit titled Gas Fired Heater Installation: Best Practices (CILB Course #: 0612763, Meets: General Credit, 2 credit hours, Zodiac Pool Systems, LLC Provider #: 0003064, Florida Propane Gas Association Course #01988, Meets: General Credit, 2 credit hours).
Upcoming meetings will include CPR/First Aide Certification, a HOPS class (held at the aquatic center). A multiple chapter softball championship and a fishing tournament are being considered.
Unless otherwise notified meetings are held at Contractors Business Park, 2701 Vista Pkwy., West Palm Beach. Check-in is at 6:30 p.m. with a light dinner and refreshments served. Programs start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Members may attend for a nominal fee of $10. Non-member pricing is $20 per person. Continuing Education (CE credit) meetings are free for members.
