Several members of the Broward Chapter attended the FSPA Legislative Days in Tallahassee in January.  A meeting with Rep. Barrington Russell from District 95 was very successful as he was interested in our efforts as an association regarding drowning prevention.

There will be a Board of Directors meeting from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6 at Ruby Tuesday’s in Pompano Beach.  All members interested in learning more about their Broward Chapter are encouraged to attend.

Thank you to all FSPA members who attended the 2nd Annual South Florida Water Safety Symposium held on February 22.
This was a tri-county educational opportunity designed for all professionals who come in contact with children. The focus of the symposium was on drowning prevention in South Florida, drowning statistics and the proactive methods to help combat the issue. The Broward Chapter was a major sponsor for this event with a $6,000 donation.  In addition, Rick Myer’s, Team Horner, and Gary Kaplan, Ike’s Carter Pool Companies, lead a break out session detailing the role of the pool industry in water safety.  Their talk included products and equipment geared specifically for water safety.

Look for upcoming information for spring Chapter events.  If you are interested in hosting or sponsoring a Chapter meeting or event please contact Michelle@floridapoolpro.com  or call (941) 952-9293.

By Rick Myers, Team Horner /  rmyers@teamhorner.com As I teach commercial pool classes, I always ask the question to pool technicians; what are some of the biggest challenges you face on a daily basis?  Undoubtedly, one of the top three to four answers are a property’s refusal to fix or address a leak.    In all […]
